Announcement for FMA UK fitness DVD with Adam Foster

Invisible Monster

DVD can now be purchased from here.

We are proud to announce a joint venture has been agreed between personal trainer Adam Foster of First Call Fitness, and FMAUK to produce a fitness DVD that will be aimed at people with fibromyalgia.  This fitness DVD is near the end its production but we will let you know when it becomes available with preorders available from here: http://www.thefibroguy.com/shop/pre-order-the-invisible-monster/. It will feature people with fibromyalgia and positive techniques that have been used by members of a support group. There will also be a documentary DVD focusing on fibromyalgia.

Graded activity or exercise has been shown to be beneficial to people with fibromyalgia but often the existing fitness exercises provided by others are at too high an activity rate or for too long a time that people with fibromyalgia often feel worse rather than better. A tailored program of activities that has been developed with fibromyalgia in mind is something that FMA UK has been keen to see developed for a while.

While it is still early in the project we are confident that the end product will meet a need and help people with fibromyalgia keep their activity levels up. Adam Foster has a good plan of how he will engage with people with fibromyalgia and record the positive results that he has already seen.

FMA UK has provided the investment to allow this project to come to fruition and we are hopeful that it will be successful both as a commercial venture but more importantly as an added tool for people suffering from fibromyalgia to make positive change in their quality of life.

About FMA UK

FMA UK logo

Fibromyalgia Action UK is a registered charity run primarily by unpaid volunteers. The majority of volunteers are also fibromyalgia sufferers who work extremely hard, despite their condition, in order to forward the cause of fibromyalgia.  FMA UK was established in order to provide information and support to sufferers and their families. In addition, the charity provides medical information for professionals and operates a national helpline.

We aim to encourage NHS and others to fund new research projects aimed at helping people with fibromyalgia. At present there is not enough research being carried out in the UK and sufferers are told there is no cure. We hope that this will soon be a statement of the past.

FMA UK operates as a signpost to information and resources for people who are affected by fibromyalgia. From our initial beginnings we have seen the range of services and resources increase. What we can offer is closely tied to the level of donations we receive and other funding sources.

About Adam Foster

Adam Foster of First Call Fitness (thefibroguy.com), and newly appointed Chair of the Newcastle fibromyalgia Support Group, is a specialist Personal Trainer who over the years has developed various exercise and pain management routines for sufferers of chronic pain conditions, including fibromyalgia.

Adams journey with chronic pain commenced whilst serving overseas in Afghanistan following an IED blast which left him with extensive scar tissue on his cervical vertebrae. Due to this damage, he suffers with cluster migraines to this day. It was in the years following his injury that Adam found solace in exercise and developed his own pain management programme which he quickly adapted for other individuals; alleviating their symptoms and allowing for a better quality of life.

Adams programmes can be adapted to individuals of all abilities and/or limitations (including those with associated syndromes such as Ehlers-Danlos) and include elements of stretching, strength and postural work.
