Chris Murray's series of charity tough mudders

Chris Murray raised £318 already in his challenge of a series of tough mudder events for FMA UK in memory of his Mum. Chris told us about his first tough mudder in the series: ''So, it’s finally started. The Tough Mudder season is on its way now and the first ten miles have been completed! The support I have had so far in the way of donations and well wishes has blown me away! Even as I was running along the course this weekend the number of people who recognised the name on the shirt and had a very quick chat was staggering.
When you explain to people what I am trying to achieve they look at me as if I’m crazy and need a good lie down, but explaining to them that the minimal discomfort and pain of going through the course is nothing compared to what Fibro sufferers have to deal with makes it all worth it. Sharing the stories of who my mum was and what the condition did to her has definitely helped educate people on what this invisible condition can do to someone’s normal, day to day life.''

The charity is run by volunteers, most of whom have fibromyalgia.
If your Health Care Professional needs some education in fibromyalgia you can request that an FMA UK Health Professionals Pack is sent out to them. All we need is the name of the Health CareProfessional and the address of their practice. We will then send a pack to their surgery addressed from us to them.

You can find a Support Group near you by contacting the Regional Coordinator for your area. If there does not happen to be a support group near you then maybe you can join with some other members and set one up. Support groups provide a social benefit as well as the opportunity to share tips on coping with fibro. They come in all shapes and sizes and we are often told how they have helped people.
