Kay Sharpington raises nearly £200 in fibromyalgia awareness day cake sale

Kay Sharpington and her colleagues held a cake sale at her workplace for FMA UK on 12th May, International Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, and raised nearly £200. This will support FMA UK in its work raising awareness of, and research into, fibromyalgia.

As well as fundraising for FMA UK, the event raised awareness among the cake-buyers, as many had not heard of fibromyalgia and were unaware of Fibromyalgia Action UK. Several took leaflets away to find out more about the condition. Some people shared that they had fibromyalgia themselves or a relative with fibromyalgia, and were glad to see awareness being raised at the event.

The cakes were very popular, and the top sellers were brownies, fruit cake and flapjacks. Feedback on the day was very good; one customer commented “it was delicious” and another returned for a second helping!
