Fibromyalgia Paisley & Inverclyde Network, Bridgwater Fibromyalgia, Derby Fibromyalgia and Chorley group have all been in touch with their events and activities
Fibro PaIN are going to be involved in an Awareness Day event being put on by "Feevents Presents" at Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall Street, Kinning Park, Glasgow, G41 1BA The event will take place from 1.00-5.00pm and as well as a Fibro Awareness stall with leaflets and FMA UK merchandise for sale, the event will feature

Bridgwater Fibromyalgia Group are hosting a Fashion Show on Friday 10th May at La Kage Bistro in Bridgwater.
We have 6 models who will be showing off new/almost new clothing, with an auction for the said clothing and also lots more items, many still with tags on, including accessories. There is a raffle and craft stall. Entry is £3 and starts at 7pm. Our local radio station presenter Dave Englefield will be our host for the evening.
Derby Fibromyalgia will be having an Awareness Table on Saturday 11th May in the Eagle Market, Derby, with an expected visit from the Mayor of Derby. On the evening of 12th May, group leader Jackie Banton
will be attending a Presentation evening to receive a Community Champion award in recognition for running the group for the past 6 years, after she was nominated by a group member. Congratulations Jackie.
Chorley group leader Natalie Hicks will be on Preston FM radio station to discuss Fibromyalgia Awareness/Awareness Day on Monday 13th.
I will be plugging the new Preston Support Group and also a DLA/PIP talk at Chorley group with a DWP/DLA Group Outreach Manager that evening. The same weekend Chorley will celebrate their 1st birthday as an official group on Friday 10th with a Birthday Party Meeting.
There's still some time for other groups to let us know what you are up to - or even if you are doing something as an individual. Remember, each of us can play our part in raising awareness - wear something yellow or yellow/black for the day and speak to people you meet about fibromyalgia awareness.
And to finish - an interesting fact as to why 12th May was chosen. This was Florence Nightingale's birthday and it was believed that she had fibromyalgia or similar, and so her birthday was chosen to mark the annual international awareness day.
