Fibromyalgia Conference and Pamper Weekend

We are planning a South of England Conference & Pamper Weekend at the Southdowns Holidays Village, Bracklesham Bay, from Friday to Monday, April 23/26, 2010, with surplus funds to research for FMS.

This will be a  weekend you will remember and will want to come to again. In the evening I promise you we will have some laughs and fun.  We are even toying with the idea of having a fancy dress Folly Pogs Ball not to mention a best dickie box competition.

But seriously folks this is a chance to hear experts in the field of fibromyalgia - top men and women  who do not think we are mad or imagining  pains.  Doctors, specialists and consultants who  have researched, studied, diagnosed and treated FMS - folk who speak with authority about this rotten invisible disability. We are also planning a number of interesting  workshops.

On the pamper scene  you will have the opportunity to sample a number of therapies which can be helpful when deciding what complementary treatment suits you best.  We are inviting fibromites to take part in an exhibition of paintings, craft, photographs or whatever your hobby is  along with several commercial companies offering products  related to fibromyalgia,  well being, and books.

We think we have found the right man  to help us sort out some  activities and entertainment for your partners, husbands, him indoors, or friend. If he wants to bring his clubs Chichester Golf Course is close but we would need to know in advance in the hope we
could make up a party. . http://www.chichestergolf.com/

The venue is close to the beach and wind surfing is a local sport. Bracklesham Bay is renowned for old  fossils - no personal remarks
please not even about fibro fossils thanks very much!.

Every night there will be a dance band in the ballroom, and entertainmment - cabaret. The long weekend will include full board from  Friday afternoon 3pm  to Monday late morning. No worries about drinking and driving as long as you can find your way back to your bed or any other bed that happens to be vacant.....

Being conscious of the financial limitations the credit crunch has forced upon us, we have tried hard to make this an appealing but affordable package. So we are asking you to pay only for the food and accommodation. It is our hope we will find sponsors to cover  the cost of the  educational part of the weekend so the cost to those attending will be kept to a minimum. We believe the accommodation etc. will be in the region of £125 per person.

We do need firm commitments  for this weekend as if we do not reach the numbers it will mean  the event will have to be cancelled and we do have a deadline for cancelling the event.  Please tell your fibro friends and their friends. Make up a party and drive to the coast together. There will be lots to listen to and learn, with paperwork to take home to jog your memory and plenty of comfort breaks. No one will worry if you stand up and walk about - we will warn them - that is what fibromites do!.

It is important to point out this is a Holiday Village, not the new Butlins 25 star  hotel. The chalets have all been refurbished to a good standard and  all have en suite and heating.  The centre has a good reputation for its food  and we are planning on sole occupancy for the weekend.  This means  we are inviting 250 people - fibromites, fibromites and more fibromites plus partners, and husbands and their friends. Sorry no children or dogs - not even to make the numbers up.

THE NITTY GRITTY
Although  it will involve more effort we would consider 1x£35 for Nov.23 plus 3x£30 for Dec. 23, Jan.23 and Feb.23 as it must be paid in full by Feb.23.  Failure to pay the full amount will I am afraid result in the loss of the deposit.  The total amount of £125  per person must be paid before March 23rd.

If you are paying by instalments from  Nov 23 please send £35 deposit or you could pay a 50% deposit and the rest before February 23rd. Please contact me to make the necessary arrangements. We look forward to a fantastic weekend full of support, education and fun.  Email Jeanne Hambleton with this form.

No I will not be wearing a red coat or even a blue coat...even tho I was the  Butlins Press Officer Hi Di Hi. Write soon. I am telling everybody.

THE AREA
Chichester is  7 miles inland from Bracklesham Bay,  (behind the Isle of Wight) along the coast from Selsey Bill  and the Lifeboat Station.. Chichester is a Cathedral City, with splendid Roman  'ruins', the famous Festival Theatre,  a modern cinema, and the Victoria/Portsmouth railway connection.  We are near  Portsmouth, HMS Victory, the Submarine dockyard - all accessible along the A27. http://www.chichesterweb.co.uk/frameset.htm

Bracklesham Bay  is famous for it's fossil beds, as well as windsurfing, a  very modern sport. In  the village you can hire  surf boards, and in nearby East Wittering village you can hire mobility scooters. The Southdowns Holiday Village is literally a few minutes walk to the  beach - pebbly but sandy at low tide.

THE COMMITMENT
If you think this is a  good idea and would like to be part of it - the opportunity to learn more about fibromyalgia - and to partake of some of the best medicine - laughter - please contact us and make a commitment. Email me with this form including your details and how many folk you hope to bring plus address, telephone number,  and  your full name and how many have fibromyalgia .

Also please  let me know if you want to pay by instalment or pay a deposit of £65 per person - the balance being due in February.  Cheques to be made out to FCPW (Fibromyalgia Conference & Pamper Weekend).

We need your support - to learn more about fibromyalgia, spoil and pamper ourselves and have some fun. We look forward to seeing you. Start planning that fancy dress costume or the re-dickie-lous dickie bow tie  for the competition.

A PDF leaflet is available from here as well.
