Dear Honourable Member of the European Parliament,
I have been informed that a declaration on the condition fibromyalgia was proposed on September the 1st 2008. Declaration No. 69/2008 asks for more awareness of the consequences of Fibromyalgia. It has been proposed and supported by ENFA which is a network of European National Fibromyalgia associations.
While a great many Members of the European Parliament have signed this declaration so far, I believe that you have still to do so, according to the Fibromyalgia Association UK (FMA UK) website (http://www.fmauk.org/enfa). I am guessing it is just an omission on your part and I am looking forward in the coming week to seeing your name being linked to the support of the EP written declaration.
As a fibromyalgia sufferer myself I would like to ask you urgently to support this written declaration by signing the document at the next plenary session which takes place on 17th to 20th November, or by going to the EP written declaration office. I believe is a part of your duty as my political representative to make fibromyalgia sufferers' voices heard at the national and especially the European Level. There are an estimate 14 million people in Europe who are currently suffering from pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia which is compounded by its lack of recognition.
Every day I suffer from the effects of fibromyalgia...........I met scepticism and disbelief from medical professional as I sought my diagnosis......Treatment for my condition is difficult to come by and I hear of other sufferers being offered treatments that my doctor will not prescribe........We really need better informed doctors and a more standardised approach to fibromyalgia sufferers
I am available to you for any discussion, explanation or information regarding my plight with fibromyalgia and would welcome any time that you may have to spare. If you would like more information on fibromyalgia then please look at the Fibromyalgia Association UK website. A good starting point is http://www.fmauk.org/whatisfm
Your sincerely
