Fibromyalgia Support Northern Ireland: 6th International Fibromyalgia Conference

This is an one-day Conference with lunch included, and will be held in the Lodge Hotel, Lodge Road, Coleraine on Saturday July 4th, 2009.   This hotel is on the Belfast side of the town and quite easy to find.  There will also be a shuttle car from the train station to the hotel for those who are travelling by train.  The station isn't far from the hotel and the shuttle will run for an hour in the morning and same in the afternoon.

Time:  10.30 - 4.00 approximately.

Ticket Cost:

  • £18 for non-members
  • £15 for members, senior citizens and under 18's (requires proof of status).

Please apply early as tickets are disappearing fast already, and priority is being given to those living in the North and West of the Province.  Send payment by chq or P.O. made out to FMSNI and please put your name/address on the back to the main address. Tickets are nonrefundable.

Speakers will be:

Dr. Patrick Woods MD, from Louisiana State University. who is a senior medical advisor for the National Fibromyalgia Association in the US.  He will be speaking about exciting research developments in the area of dopamine and how this important neurochemical may well hold the key to the cause of the condition and assist with future FMS treatments.

Dr. Kim Lawson, BTech, PhD (Hons) from Sheffield Hallam University in England who will probably speak on research developments here in the UK.

Ron McDowell from Aware Defeat Depression.

We are still waiting on confirmation for 2 further possible speakers including hopefully a DLA Adjudicator.

There will be ample opportunity to relax and stretch as well as rest through the day, so don't let the thought of what you may perceive to be a long day put you off.

Accommodation is obviously available at the Lodge as well as other surrounding hotels and B&B's if required.  There are no reduced rates, so you will need to make those arrangements yourself.  Any other enquiries please contact the Helpline, email or write in.
